Living with a chronic illness or complex medical condition affects every part of your life. Not just your physical health, but your identity, relationships, and emotional well-being.
At Jupiter Healing, I offer trauma-informed online therapy in Michigan for chronic illness. My goal is to provide a space where your full experience is understood and supported.
We accept most major insurance plans and medicaid plans throughout Michigan.
During graduate school, Amanda was dual-enrolled at the Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences in Rochester, Minnesota. She recieved direct clinical training in practicing medical social work with patients recovering from traumatic brain injuries.
She also received advanced clinical training in working with individuals living with chronic illness across the lifespan, deepening her understanding of the complex relationship between physical health and emotional well-being.
While at Mayo Clinic, Amanda worked closely with individuals navigating:
Traumatic brain injuries (TBI)
Neurological conditions
Long-term medical and cognitive challenges
Rare and/or long term chronic illness (autoimmune disorders, cancer, pelvic floor dysfunction, heart conditions, brain tumors, etc.)
Amanda conducted research exploring the effectiveness of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) for individuals recovering from Traumatic Brain Injuries.
Chronic illness and brain injuries are not just medical conditions. They are deeply emotional, identity-shifting experiences.
Amanda’s training at Mayo Clinic allows her to:
Understand the neurological and psychological impact of illness and injury
Recognize how trauma is stored in both the brain and body
Apply evidence-based trauma therapies like EMDR, in a way that is safe and appropriate for medically complex clients
Support clients through the grief, identity changes, and uncertainty that often accompany chronic conditions
Many therapists are compassionate, but not all have experience within a medical setting providing counseling for patients with complex medical issues.
Amanda brings both:
Clinical expertise from a world-renowned medical institution
A trauma-informed, deeply empathetic approach
This means you won’t need to overexplain your condition, your fatigue, or the invisible challenges you face. Your experience is already understood and validated.
Hi! I am Amanda and my approach is deeply informed by my clinical social work internship at the Mayo Clinic, where I worked with patients across the lifespan navigating:
Chronic and complex medical conditions
Autoimmune disorders
Cancer diagnoses and treatment
Neurological conditions and brain injuries
This experience shaped my ability to understand not only the emotional impact of illness, but also the medical systems, uncertainty, and invisible challenges that often come with it.
You won’t have to explain or justify your experience here. I already understand how real and complex it is.
Emotional impact of chronic illness
Cancer-related stress and adjustment
Identity shifts and grief
Anxiety, depression, and uncertainty
Navigating relationships while experience illness
Burnout from managing ongoing health needs
Chronic illness is not just physical, it’s deeply emotional.
My work integrates trauma-informed care with a whole-person perspective, honoring both your medical reality and your emotional world. Therapy is tailored to your energy, capacity, and lived experience.
Many therapists understand mental health. Fewer understand what it’s like to live in a body that feels unpredictable, limiting, or misunderstood.
My clinical background allows me to:
Recognize the overlap between trauma and chronic illness
Understand the impact of brain-body connection
Support clients navigating both physical and emotional healing
Meet you with both clinical knowledge and deep empathy
I offer virtual therapy for chronic illness in Michigan, so you can access care from the comfort of your home. This is especially important when symptoms, fatigue, or mobility make in-person care difficult.
Whether you’ve been living with illness for years or are newly adjusting to a diagnosis, your experience is valid. Support can make a meaningful difference.
If you’re looking for a therapist who truly understands chronic illness, I would be honored to work with you.
